David & Amber | Engaged | Kansas Wedding Photographer
I am beyond thrilled to be sharing these images with you. I’ve known David for a few years and went to lunch every day when we were coworkers so of course shared a lot about our dating lives with each other. Last year he sent me a photo of him and Amber and I immediately told him to marry her to which he responded “I’m working on it!”
When I met them to discuss their engagement session and wedding it was my first time meeting Amber and she could not be more perfect for David. She’s enthusiastic and upbeat and makes you feel like you’ve been friends for years and years.
The story she told me about their first date absolutely melts my heart....
"Our first date lasted 9 hours. We decided to do a low key date and go fishing. We met at Lake Shawnee, when he stepped out I thought "he's pretty handsome" We went to a dock and he was impressed that I bait my own hook. I sat down and he walked over and knelt down leaving a good distance between us and I knew then he was a respectable guy. Conversation just flowed. We talked about our childhood, sports, etc. After 2 hours of fishing (and him catching everything and I nothing) we went for a walk to the gardens and sat for another hour. It was getting dark but I didn't want to stop getting to know him so we decided to go to Blind Tiger and grab a bite and watch the Royals game. After the game was over we kind of looked at one another and again thought "I'm having a great time and I don't want to part ways yet" We went back to the lake, put a blanket down and talked about life, children.. very serious things. Then I broke my number 1 rule and kissed him on the first date. We realized it was 1AM, our date had started at 4PM."
She also told me that she knew after 4 weeks that he would be the man she would marry. <3 . They were engaged after 3 months and now here we are taking their engagement pictures with their wedding just 3 short months away!
Towards the end of their engagement session I asked them to slow dance and Amber sang to David as they danced. “Darlin you can count on me, Till the sun dries up the sea, Until then I’ll always be, Devoted to you” (Everly Brothers) It was such a special moment that I was so happy to be a part of. I can’t wait to capture their big day in September! Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session, enjoy!
